For Tlotlo Progress Moletsane, teaching was always more than an ambition, it was a passion rooted in a desire to see young learners in her community succeed. Through support from the Zeerust Solar Scholarship Programme, she has now turned that passion into a vocation, graduating from the University of Pretoria with a Bachelor of Education in Senior Phase and Further Education and Training, and setting her on a path to give back to her community.
“I chose this career because I want to bring change into my community through education. It is my passion to teach learners how to write and read,” said Tlotlo Progress Moletsane.
Tlotlo is one of five students from the Zeerust community supported by the Zeerust Solar Scholarship Programme, which provides full tertiary education funding to academically deserving students facing financial barriers to higher education.
For Tlotlo and her family, the scholarship removed a significant obstacle to achieving her qualification.
“The scholarship has given me the opportunity to further my studies and become one of the teachers in our country who wants to bring change into learners’ lives. It has brought happiness into my family,” she said.
Beyond financial support, the programme offers holistic development through mental health support and work readiness workshops, equipping students with the tools to transition successfully into the world of work.
Now a qualified teacher, Tlotlo is focused on making a meaningful impact in her community while continuing to grow professionally.
“My future goals are to help struggling learners in my community and to further my studies and build myself. These goals can be achieved if only I work hard,” she said.
