Teachers play a vital role in shaping the next generation, not only by sharing knowledge but also by inspiring and encouraging learners to reach their potential. In recognition of this, educators from primary and secondary schools across the Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality were recently honoured at an event celebrating their dedication and impact. Supported by Zeerust Solar, the Teacher’s Excellence Awards reflect the solar plant’s broader commitment to sustainable development through education, capacity building, and community upliftment.
“Educators are at the heart of community growth, guiding young minds and helping shape future opportunities. We were inspired to support this initiative as part of our commitment to acknowledging and uplifting educators whose dedication often goes unnoticed yet has a lasting impact on society,” said Qinisani Siveshe, Social Performance Manager for Zeerust Solar.
During this year’s ceremony, 15 teachers from 10 primary and secondary schools across the Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality were honoured. The recipients were selected by the Ramotshere Moiloa Local Education Office through a process that included interviews aligned with the National Teachers Awards criteria. Teachers were evaluated on their excellence in teaching and learning, commitment to learner development and academic success, as well as their positive contributions to school communities and extracurricular activities.
“The Teacher’s Excellence Award holds immense significance for me, both professionally and personally. It’s a powerful recognition of the critical role teachers play in shaping our society. I am humbled and inspired by this award, and I will continue to strive for excellence in my profession, making a lasting impact on the lives of my students and the community at large,” said Mr Moremedi from Borothamadi Primary, who received the Best Teacher Award.
This initiative is part of Zeerust Solar’s long-term commitment to the education sector. The company remains dedicated to identifying and implementing additional opportunities that ensure programmes like these create a lasting and meaningful impact within the community.
