Children and staff at the Kamieskroon Children’s Home, located in the Kamiesberg area, were treated to a fun-filled day during a recent visit from the local wind farm’s staff. The initiative not only brought smiles to the 25 children it accommodates but also recognised the dedication of the home’s staff, who play a vital role in providing daily care and support.
The home had previously reached out to Kangnas Wind Farm for support with basic needs such as food and toiletries, due to ongoing financial challenges. In response, the wind farm dedicated time and resources to bringing warmth and encouragement to the children and staff.
“We are grateful to Kangnas Wind Farm for choosing to visit and support our home. This support brought joy to the children, and we sincerely appreciate the thoughtful gifts. We hope this marks the beginning of a lasting and meaningful relationship between the wind farm and our children’s home,” said Andy Adams, Manager at the Kamieskroon Children’s Home.
By partnering with local organisations and supporting initiatives like this, Kangnas Wind Farm continues to nurture a strong sense of community and promote social cohesion. The visit reflects the wind farm’s commitment to collective compassion and aligns with its core values of building strong communities.
“The aim of our visit to the children’s home was to bring a sense of hope and positivity to the children, reminding them that they are seen, valued, and cared for. We also wanted to express our deep appreciation to the dedicated staff of the children’s home. Their efforts are truly commendable, and we hope this gesture affirms the important role they play in the lives of these children,” said Rouchet Daniels, Economic Development Manager at Kangnas Wind Farm.
The day’s programme was filled with enriching activities, including games, dancing, colouring in the South African flag, and a story time. In addition, the children and staff received essential gift boxes containing toiletries, stationery, snacks, and branded winter accessories such as beanies, scarves, and gloves, as well as fleecy winter blankets, to help them through the cold winter season.
